On June 3, Mati appeared as an expert witness at the Yoorrook Justice Commission’s ‘Social Justice Hearings’ to give testimony about the Victorian school system including its treatment of First Peoples. The commission referenced ‘The School Exclusion Project’ report (seeded by the Australian Centre funding in 2023) which Mati produced with the National Indigenous Youth Coalition and a team of researchers, as well as their own research on curriculum.
